Our Club is located on the Rector Road in Martinsburg, NY. Our club is comprised of roughly 72 miles of groomed trails which is ideal for all snowmobile enthusiasts. Our memberships are growing strong every year. Some comprised of single individuals to as much as entire families. Our trails lead to other nearby clubs trails which makes in for hundreds of miles of pure snowmobiling heaven. We operate on three different groomers almost 7 days a week to keep trails on and around the Tug Hill in their best shape. All trails are marked on various maps. In addition to being on a map, all of our trails are staked and signed for your convenience.
Snowmobiling as we know it today has moved mountains compared to what it once was many years ago. In the 70's the trails as we know them today were in very rough shape and almost made it impossible to ride them safely. A group of local snowmobile enthusiasts joined together to try to improve conditions and make the trails more enjoyable to ride. They created a club which was comprised of about 25 members. They held a meeting, elected officers, and gathered volunteers to assist in working to improve the trail system. They are what started the beginning of Valley Snow Travelers.
In the beginning grooming trails consisted of a tractor dragging a set of bed springs. In 1972, the first groomer was purchased from money generated from memberships and donations. Today, our club runs three different machines. Two Case tractors with Larry Snyder trail paver drags and one bombardier pulling mogul master drags to keep up on trail maintenance. Our current memberships above and beyond the north country, reaching 8 different states and still growing.
Our club is what we know it today because of our local support as well as many individual and family support beyond New York State. Valley Snow Travelers sponsors many community based events such as a youth snowmobile course as well as benefit dances for Christmas charities.
Special thanks to those who have served or are currently serving our club as president, Sam Villanti, Fred Tabolt, Andy Tarasek, Dick Witcher ,Martin Beyer, John Bergen, Bill Tarasek and our current president Josh Stoffle. This club wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for the hard work and time you put in. Special thanks to our skilled groomer operators, the hours you all put in doesn't go unnoticed. Another special thanks to our volunteers whom help clear and mark trails each year to make the sport of snowmobiling on the Tug Hill a great one.
Please remember to stay on marked trail, respect others, and respect this beautiful land so others can enjoy for years to come.
We look forward to a great year!
